Holger Theunert

H O L G E R T H E U N E R T

Born and educated in East Germany (Leipzig).
He moved to Karlsruhe 1989.
His artistic career started with first solo exhibitions before he went to the HfG.
After testing different styles in a new artistic climate he returned to his roots –
telling private stories with an easy access to the public,
at the same time he leaves enough room for imagination.
Theunert’s work was always influenced by music.
In the 90’s he began his collaboration with various musicians;
J.Peter Schwalm (Brian Eno), Leo Abrahams (Roxy Music/Pulp), Martin France (Spin Marvel) etc.
Until today was followed by different projects.
At the moment the exhibitions are accompanied by J. Peter Schwalm, Mac Barisch, the dancer Aki Kanda and PONG (great visual artists).
Theunert is trying not to lose contact with the audience, so he loves to show his paintings in public places
(Semana Negra – Gijon/Spain, EXPO 2000, Karstadt exhibition 1996/2000, etc.)
He was the 1st Price Award winner of Artistrunway / Indianapolis, USA 2007.
